Mr. Cortina's practice and experience focuses on all areas of intellectual property, including patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret. He prepares and prosecutes domestic and international patent applications in a broad range of technologies, including: electronics; communications; computer hardware and software; solid state devices; medical devices and systems; automotive; general mechanical technologies; and chemical and chemical engineering technologies. Mr. Cortina routinely counsels clients on trademark and copyright protection and enforcement. He assists clients with intellectual property infringement matters, including dispute resolution and litigation. Mr. Cortina also has drafted and negotiated complex license, joint development/teaming, technical assistance, and other technology and intellectual property agreements in a variety of industries. He is a registered patent attorney, is recognized in "Legal Elite," a list of the best attorneys in the state by Business North Carolina, in "Super Lawyers," a list of top North Carolina attorneys by North Carolina Super Lawyers, and has been rated by his peers as being preeminent" in his respective fields of law.
