Mr. Stephenson's practice experience encompasses business law (including formations, transfers and acquisitions), tax planning and controversies, estate planning, and business and corporate management counseling. His practice is focused on advising business owners and the representation of their companies, negotiation of contracts and agreements, and advising high net worth individuals on complex matters including business succession planning. Mr. Stephenson has lectured extensively in continuing legal education programs on business organizations and transactions and estate and tax planning, and has co-authored manuscripts including "Minimizing Estate and Gift Taxes While Transferring the Family Business" and "Estate Liquidity for the Owners of Closely Held Businesses." He has been an officer and member of the boards of directors of numerous civic and charitable organizations. Mr. Stephenson has been rated by his peers as being "preeminent" in his fields of law and is recognized in "Super Lawyers," a list of top North Carolina attorneys by North Carolina Super Lawyers.
