Julie Beavers recently joined Ward and Smith, P.A., signaling a renewed emphasis on lateral recruiting and attorney professional development. Beavers will help the firm identify and hire new and lateral attorneys via the newly-created position of Director of Attorney Recruiting and Professional Development. She is based in the firm's Raleigh office.
"Julie will play a key role in the firm's continued growth through lateral recruiting in support of our current and future strategic initiatives, directing our professional development program, and further cultivating our attorney retention, transition, and diversity programs." said Ken Wooten, the firm's Co-Managing Director. "We're confident she will make a meaningful contribution to our firm, and are excited she's on the team."
Beavers has over 20 years of experience in recruiting and professional development in the legal and professional services industries. She assisted hundreds of law school students over the past eight years as the Director of the Career and Professional Development Center at the Campbell University School of Law. She began her career in recruiting with Womble Carlyle, where she managed campus and lateral recruiting as well as the summer associate program for the Raleigh and Research Triangle Park offices. In addition to recruiting, Beavers also managed the associate professional development program. She was a founding member and former President of the Triangle Association of Legal Recruitment Administrators (TALRA). She also held several national and regional leadership positions with the National Association of Legal Career Professionals (NALP).
