Who should attend?
The Employment Law Symposium is built for corporate HR executives, CFOs, in-house counsel, and business owners who own workforce compliance and employment decisions at their organization.
Can service providers attend?
Attendance is limited to corporate human resources executives, CFOs, business owners, and in-house counsel. Due to space limitations, we cannot accommodate other professionals, such as banking, safety, insurance, or accounting professionals, or those employed by universities or municipalities.
How much does registration cost?
There is no registration fee for the Symposium, but a confirmed registration is required, and space is capped at five people per company.

Is there a limit to how many people can come from one company?
Registration is limited to five people per company. Anyone wanting to bring more should contact Laura Hudson, Ward and Smith’s Chief Marketing Officer, at lvhudson@wardandsmith.com about specialized team training.
I’m traveling from out of town. Where should I stay?
The Employment Law Symposium is held at The Umstead Hotel and Spa in Cary. Ward and Smith does not hold a discounted room block for this event, so attendees who wish to stay overnight should book directly with the hotel or another nearby property.

How do I get to The Umstead?
The Umstead is conveniently located and accessible from I-40. For more information, including driving directions, visit https://www.theumstead.com/about/hotels-cary-north-carolina.
Where should I park?
Parking is free in The Umstead lot, and valet is complimentary beginning at 7:45 a.m.
Will food and beverages be provided?
Coffee and breakfast will be available during the morning registration period. Lunch will not be served.
Can you accommodate special dietary needs?
Most dietary needs can be accommodated. Email rsvp@wardandsmith.com to make necessary arrangements.
Will I receive continuing education credit?
North Carolina attorneys who attend will receive 3.0 hours of NC or SC CLE credit. This program also carries 3 SHRM PDCs and is being submitted for 3.0 HRCI recertification credit hours.

Will the Symposium be recorded for later viewing?
This is a live-only event. In keeping with the candid, in-the-room nature of these conversations, we won’t be recording or offering playback afterward, so we hope you’ll join us in person.

Is this event open to law students, interns, paralegals, or children?
Our programs are professional CLE and business events and are not child-friendly. Due to the event’s popularity, we are unable to accommodate law students, interns, paralegals, or attorneys at private law firms at this time.
