Ward and Smith attorney Alex Dale has been appointed to the Board of Trustees for the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics (NCSSM).
His four-year term was confirmed by the University of North Carolina Board of Governors.
NCSSM is a nationally recognized public high school offering a challenging STEM-focused curriculum to students across North Carolina. With residential campuses in Durham and Morganton, as well as online programs, the school provides unique educational opportunities for high-achieving juniors and seniors who are passionate about science, technology, engineering, and math. The Board of Trustees helps guide the school’s strategic priorities and long-term mission to expand access to advanced education across the state.
Alex brings a wealth of leadership experience and legal insight to the role. He is a North Carolina State Bar Board-Certified Specialist in Appellate Practice and co-chairs Ward and Smith’s Appellate Practice Group. His practice focuses on complex business and commercial litigation, including contract disputes, securities matters, and appeals. Alex also previously served on the North Carolina Bar Association's Board of Governors and on the American Red Cross – Cape Fear Chapter's Board of Directors, reflecting his commitment to public service and access to justice.
His appointment to NCSSM’s Board is a meaningful reflection of that same commitment to service—this time in support of North Carolina’s next generation of scientists, engineers, and leaders.
