Attorneys who missed the original 2025 Antitrust & Complex Business Disputes Law Section Program earlier this year will have another chance to tune in.
The North Carolina Bar Association will rebroadcast the CLE program on Wednesday, June 18. Originally held on January 30, the program features Ward and Smith litigation attorney Gavin Parsons, who presented a session titled “Litigating Trade Secret Claims in NC and Beyond.”
Gavin’s presentation offers a deep dive into the complex world of trade secret litigation, both under North Carolina law and federal statutes. His session breaks down the legal definition of a trade secret and explores the key issues that commonly arise in these cases, including:
- Requests for injunctive relief
- The elements of proof required to establish misappropriation
- Discovery challenges unique to trade secret disputes
- Strategies for calculating and proving damages
In addition to outlining the legal framework, Gavin also shared practical insights for litigators managing trade secret claims, including how to spot and handle additional legal issues—such as breach of contract or unfair competition—that frequently surface alongside trade secret disputes.
Due to the popularity and depth of the session, Gavin’s material has since been developed into a multi-part article series, now available on our website. You can explore the series here: Trade Secrets Article Series
