Tyler Russell to Speak on Executive Succession at Private Directors Association Event

Leadership transitions can shape the future of a private company, making thoughtful succession planning a critical board responsibility.

Ward and Smith Business Attorney Tyler Russell will join fellow governance and business leaders on November 4, 2026, in Raleigh for the Private Directors Association Carolinas Chapter program, “CEO & Executive Succession: How Private Company Boards Reduce Leadership Risk.”

The event will take place from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Cherry Bekaert’s Raleigh office, located at 3800 Glenwood Avenue.

Succession planning is one of the most important responsibilities facing private company boards, yet it is often delayed until a transition becomes urgent. This program will offer practical guidance for directors overseeing CEO and senior executive succession. The discussion will focus on board governance, oversight, and risk management, rather than recruiting or day-to-day human resources processes.

Tyler will share the panel with:

  • Blair Daves, Partner at Cherry Bekaert LLC
  • John Reid Sidebotham, President of Spyglass
  • Charlie Leichtweis, Managing Director of Experts In HOW, LLC

Together, the speakers will discuss how boards can prepare for leadership transitions while supporting management and protecting long-term company value. The program is designed for private company directors, executives, owners, and C-suite leaders across industries and ownership structures.

Registration is available through the Private Directors Association Carolinas Chapter.
