Ward and Smith and Twin Rivers YMCA Launch Gift Card Drive To Help Storm Victims

Ward and Smith and the Twin Rivers YMCA are coming together to help victims of Hurricane Florence during this holiday season with a special gift card drive.

People are encouraged to donate gift cards from Visa, American Express, Target, Walmart, Lowe's, Home Depot, or from local gas stations and grocery stores. All of the gift cards collected will be given to the Religious Community Services of New Bern, who will then distribute them to families in need. Ward and Smith is matching the total donations up to $2,500.

From now through Wednesday, November 21, you can drop-off gift cards at the following designated areas:

Ward and Smith, P.A.

1001 College Court,
New Bern, NC 28562
8:30 a.m. – 5: 30 p.m.

Twin Rivers YMCA

100 YMCA Lane
New Bern, NC 28560
5:30 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.

Donations will also be welcome at the Y's 11th Annual Turkey Trot on Thursday, November 22 at Taberna Country Club.  They can be dropped off at the registration table from 6:00 – 8:30 a.m.  The public can also email electronic or online gift cards to bhardee@trymca.org

In September, Hurricane Florence brought historic floods and destructive winds to the Carolinas, leaving much of our eastern coastal communities in ruins. While many have repaired what was damaged, others are still struggling to rebuild and replace what was lost.

"When you see the devastation caused by Hurricane Florence, you can't help but feel a sense of hopelessness and despair," remarked Ward and Smith's family law attorney and Twin Rivers YMCA board member Lauren Taylor Arnette. "But New Bern is resilient and strong. We will get through this difficult time thanks to our friends, families and neighbors, and the generosity of strangers. Words cannot express how greatly appreciative we are for all of the support."

Any questions regarding donations can be directed to Cindy Rice at 252.638.8799 ext. 240.
