A Revised Hurricane Forecast Is Not a Reason to Relax, but to Prepare
June 26, 2026
Produced by the Folk Heritage Committee, Shindig on the Green has drawn locals and visitors to downtown Asheville since 1967. Each Saturday evening, Pack Square Park comes alive with the sounds and sights of Southern Appalachian heritage: bluegrass and old-time string bands, big circle mountain dancers, clog dancers, ballad singers, and storytellers. The long-running house band, The Stoney Creek Boys, anchors every show, and the evening draws anywhere from 2,000 to 3,000 attendees, some from around the corner, others from around the world.
Best of all, it’s free.
Join the celebration in downtown Asheville, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., on the following Saturdays:
Note that Shindig on the Green will take a break from its regular Saturday schedule on August 2, 2026, when musicians and dancers participate in Shindig’s sister event, the 99th Annual Mountain Dance and Folk Festival, taking place nightly Thursday, July 31, Friday, August 1, and Saturday, August 2, 2026.
Ward and Smith is honored to support the Folk Heritage Committee and the artists, dancers, musicians, volunteers, and attendees who make Shindig on the Green such a meaningful part of Asheville’s summer.
We invite you to join us in celebrating the 60th Season of Shindig on the Green in 2026. Bring a chair, bring a blanket, bring an instrument if you play, and bring your friends and family for an unforgettable summer evening in the mountains.
