- My motto is “Never give up.” I’ve always been pretty determined, and once I set my mind to something, I have a hard time letting it go. Some of the things I’m most proud of are also the things I’ve worked hardest for. I’ve learned that even when something doesn’t come easily, hard work usually pays off.
- The best thing about Ward and Smith is definitely the people. I first came to the firm as a summer associate, and I quickly realized it was somewhere I could see myself starting my career. Everyone was welcoming and willing to take the time to teach me and answer my questions. My experience as a summer associate made my decision to return after law school an easy one.
- One surprising thing people probably don’t know about me is how obsessed I am with my five-year-old beagle, Cooper. My husband and I recently bought our first home, and I was probably more excited about finally giving Cooper a backyard of his own than anything else.
- Where I’d most like to live and why: I’d most like to live right where I am in Eastern North Carolina. I grew up here, and even after spending several years away for school, I always knew I eventually wanted to come back home. My family and many of my closest friends are here, and I love being part of a smaller community. Eastern North Carolina has always felt like home, and I’m happy to be back.
- My favorite character(s) in fiction and why: Elle Woods. I don’t think this needs much explanation. I’ve always loved that she proves people wrong while still staying true to herself. She’s determined, confident, and never feels like she has to change who she is to be successful, which is probably why she has always been one of my favorite characters.
