This honor is awarded to professionals demonstrating advanced expertise in privacy law, program management, data protection, and AI governance—areas increasingly affecting our clients' business operations and strategic objectives.
To achieve the FIP designation, Angela met rigorous requirements, including holding and maintaining two IAPP certifications, demonstrating years of professional experience, obtaining recommendations from experienced privacy professionals, and submitting a personal statement demonstrating her qualifications.
As Ward and Smith’s Director of Legal Innovation and leader of our Intellectual Property and Privacy Practice Groups, Angela offers our clients a unique and valuable blend of experience across intellectual property, privacy and data security, and responsible AI practices. Her FIP designation signifies not only her deep technical understanding of privacy and AI frameworks but, more importantly, her practical, results-oriented approach to empowering clients. She helps businesses align their operations with complex data and privacy protection regulations, mitigate risks, and strategically adapt to emerging and evolving technologies to drive growth.
Angela's leadership and commitment to these areas extends beyond our firm. She is also serving as the Immediate Past Chair of the North Carolina Bar Association Privacy and Data Security Section and the Chair of North Carolina State Bar Board of Specialization Trademark Committee. Angela is also a frequent speaker at professional conferences and continuing legal education programs on topics including intellectual property, privacy and data security, and AI governance.
