Attorney Amy Fitzhugh has been appointed Chair of the Membership Committee for the North Carolina Bar Association’s Administrative Law Section.
The Section serves attorneys who represent clients before state and local regulatory boards, commissions, the Office of Administrative Hearings, and occupational licensing boards, and works to strengthen administrative rule-making and adjudication processes.
In her new role, Amy will help grow and engage the Section’s membership, fostering connections and opportunities for attorneys practicing in this area. She brings extensive experience to the position as co-leader of Ward and Smith’s Professional Licensing Practice Group, where she assists licensed professionals in healthcare, engineering, real estate, construction, and other fields with compliance, investigations, and disciplinary matters.
Before joining the firm, Amy was the first in-house attorney for the North Carolina Board of Nursing, serving as its Chief Legal Officer and Legislative Liaison. Her background on both the regulatory and defense sides of professional licensing gives her unique insight into the issues facing members of the Administrative Law Section.
