Knowing When The Clock Starts: Application of the Three-Day Mailing Rule in the Context of Licensing Board Appeals, The North Carolina Supreme Court has Spoken

The NCBA’s committees play an important role in supporting the organization’s work on behalf of its members, the legal profession, and the public. The Professionalism Committee develops and oversees professionalism initiatives and recommends a recipient for the annual H. Brent McKnight Renaissance Lawyer Award, which recognizes an attorney whose career reflects excellence, service, integrity, and a commitment to the highest ideals of the profession.
Amy co-chairs Ward and Smith’s Insurance Counseling and Recovery Practice Group, where her litigation practice focuses on representing policyholders in first- and third-party insurance coverage disputes, including matters involving commercial property, directors and officers, errors and omissions, commercial general liability, and cyber coverage. She also represents clients in community association litigation and complex commercial disputes and defends licensed professionals before North Carolina’s occupational licensing boards.
Her reappointment continues a record of active involvement with the NCBA, including service as a Council Member of the Insurance Law Section.
