Hunter Cornelius Selected for Cary Chamber of Commerce’s 2025–2026 Leadership Cary Program

Community Associations Attorney Hunter Cornelius

Ward and Smith is proud to announce that homeowners association attorney Hunter Cornelius has been selected to join the Cary Chamber of Commerce’s 2025–2026 Leadership Cary program.

Leadership Cary is a highly respected, seven-month initiative designed to foster emerging leaders by offering a behind-the-scenes look at the institutions, industries, and people that shape the Town of Cary. From economic development and entrepreneurship to local government, public health, and nonprofit engagement, participants gain a deeper understanding of how the community works—and how they can help lead it forward.

The program kicks off on November 18, 2025, and runs through May 2026. In addition to learning from subject matter experts and community leaders, participants will strengthen their leadership skills and build long-lasting relationships across a wide range of industries.

Based in the firm’s Raleigh office, Hunter counsels community association board members and managers on all facets of homeowners association operations, including governance, covenant enforcement, collections, and dispute resolution. He also assists clients in maintaining and amending governing documents such as Bylaws and Declarations of Covenants to ensure compliance and clarity.

Before joining Ward and Smith, Hunter served as a law clerk for the Honorable Fred Gore of the North Carolina Court of Appeals and as a judicial intern for the Honorable Albert Diaz of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. These experiences gave him a unique perspective on judicial decision-making and sharpened his skills in legal analysis and advocacy.

Hunter joins a talented group of professionals selected for this year’s cohort—each bringing a unique perspective and a shared commitment to shaping Cary’s future.
