Matthew Jones Selected for Leadership Wilmington Class of 2027

Attorney Matthew Jones has been selected to participate in the Leadership Wilmington Class of 2027, a program of the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce.

Now more than 40 years old, Leadership Wilmington is the region’s premier program for developing and connecting leaders. With more than 800 graduates, the program has shaped many of the business and community leaders making an impact across southeastern North Carolina.

Each year, a select group of diverse professionals is chosen to form a cohort. Together, participants explore Wilmington’s biggest opportunities and challenges through hands-on experiences, behind-the-scenes access, and conversations with top leaders in government, business, education, and nonprofits. Sessions cover topics including history, arts and culture, health and human services, public education, justice, environment, government, business, and infrastructure. The program culminates in Work on Wilmington, a community-wide day of service that mobilizes volunteers across the area.

Matthew joins a group of Ward and Smith attorneys who have completed the program, including Isabelle Chammas, Chris Edwards, Allen Trask, Madeline Williams, and Jeremy Wilson.

Matthew focuses his practice on business law, with depth in mergers and acquisitions, entity formation, business succession planning, and corporate reorganizations. He represents businesses and individuals in complex transactions across a range of industries and regularly advises both for-profit and nonprofit organizations on governance and compliance matters.
