Isabelle M. Chammas
Litigation Attorney
Isabelle works collaboratively to help clients navigate and resolve disputes that are at (or near) the litigation stage. Those clients range from private individuals to families, to family-owned businesses, to mid-size and large companies working in industries such as construction, manufacturing, hospitality, real estate, banking, and healthcare.
Whether cases are being prosecuted or defended in state, business, or federal court, Isabelle shepherds them through all stages of the process. This includes preparing pleadings, drafting and arguing motions, crafting written discovery, taking and defending depositions, conducting mediation, and seeing a case through trial. Isabelle has handled litigation across a wide variety of practice areas, including commercial, intellectual property, trusts and estates (including guardianship litigation), personal injury, real estate, insurance, employment, and construction.
Isabelle’s advice on legal strategy is informed by her experience as a law clerk to the Honorable Richard E. Myers II, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina, and as an associate and paralegal at two full-service international law firms. Isabelle also prides herself on practicality and clear-eyed counsel. A skilled negotiator, she strives to keep lines of communication open with opposing parties and their counsel to explore whether a favorable resolution can be reached outside the courtroom — saving her clients time, expense, and uncertainty whenever possible. When litigation is unavoidable, however, Isabelle is fully prepared to advocate vigorously every step of the way.

Where I’d most like to live and why: I had the unique opportunity to live overseas and travel the world for the majority of my childhood. This enriching experience exposed me to diverse cultures, languages, and religions. Now, I am lucky to call Wilmington, North Carolina, home. To me, it has the perfect mix of historic charm, easy access to beautiful beaches, a stellar climate, and an engaged, entrepreneurial community.
