North Carolina’s Gift Ban and Nonprofits: Broader Exceptions, Reporting, and Penalties
May 22, 2026
Ward and Smith is proud to support Work On Wilmington (WOW) 2026, a powerful, community-wide day of service on April 18 that brings hundreds of volunteers together to make a lasting impact across New Hanover County.
Since 2006, WOW—led by the Leadership Wilmington class of the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce Foundation—has united businesses, nonprofits, and community members around a shared goal: strengthening Wilmington through hands-on service. In just four hours, volunteers complete dozens of meaningful projects that local organizations often don’t have the resources to tackle on their own.
From landscaping and painting to playground improvements and facility upgrades, WOW transforms spaces—and the lives of those who depend on them—through collaboration, generosity, and hard work.
We’re proud to support an initiative that reflects the very best of our community: people coming together, rolling up their sleeves, and making a difference.
