An evening of art, remembrance, and community impact is returning to UNC Pembroke this summer.
The 12th Annual Julian T. Pierce Memorial Art Dinner will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the English E. Jones Auxiliary Gym on the UNC Pembroke campus.
The dinner is hosted by the Julian T. Pierce Legacy Foundation, which honors the enduring legacy of civil rights champion Julian T. Pierce, a trailblazing Lumbee attorney, activist, and advocate for equal justice and access to education.
This annual gathering is more than just a dinner; it’s a celebration of Julian’s mission to uplift underserved communities and expand opportunities through education. The event showcases local and regional artists, drawing together business leaders, community advocates, educators, and students to support scholarships at Robeson Community College, UNC Pembroke, and North Carolina Central University School of Law.
The proceeds raised directly benefit students from historically underrepresented backgrounds, helping with tuition, books, and other educational expenses.
Each year, the dinner also serves as a powerful reminder of Pierce’s enduring influence, especially in Robeson County, where he fought tirelessly for social justice, health equity, and public education reform before his untimely death in 1988.
Ward and Smith is honored to support the Julian T. Pierce Memorial Art Dinner as a proud event sponsor.
