Alex Ferri and Jason Strickland to Present at NCBA's 2023 Construction Law Winter Program

Alex Ferri and Jason Strickland

The Construction Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association is preparing for its 2023 winter program, featuring attorneys Alex Ferri and Jason Strickland as speakers.

"I Will Not Go Quietly: Termination at All Levels of Construction" is a one-day event examining the considerations for owners, designers, contractors, subcontractors, and sureties when there is not enough love in the world to keep the project together.

Keeping with the event's theme, Alex and Jason's session focuses on ethical quandaries for lawyers advising clients in contract terminations. Here's a course description:

This segment is an examination of ethical issues frequently encountered in exercising or responding to terminations in the construction context, including the potential for conflicts of interest when the lawyer represents multiple parties and the lawyer becoming a fact witness in termination situations. We also discuss the constraints on the lawyer demanding cure actions or exercising the termination right and the lawyer counseling the client on HUB/MBE considerations in making the decision to terminate.

Alex and Jason's presentation is approved for one-hour ethics/professional responsibility CLE.

The Construction Law Winter Program will be held on February 16 at the NC Bar Center in Cary. There's also a virtual option if you can't attend in person. Click here to register and learn more information about the speakers and sessions.
