Melissa Forshey Schwind to Speak on UNC School of Law 1L Panel on Interviewing Skills for Private Practice

Melissa Forshey Schwind, Director of Attorney Talent at Ward and Smith, will serve as a panelist for the University of North Carolina School of Law 1L professional development program, “Interviewing Skills for 1Ls – Private Practice,” on Tuesday, January 13, at noon at the UNC School of Law.

Designed for first-year law students, the program will focus on practical tips and strategies for interviewing for private practice positions. The discussion will address how 1Ls can effectively prepare for interviews, present themselves professionally, and communicate their interests and strengths to prospective employers. In addition to the panel discussion, the program will include a mock interview with a third-year law student, giving attendees a real-time example of what to expect during an interview and highlighting both effective techniques and common missteps to avoid.

As Director of Attorney Talent, Melissa leads Ward and Smith’s attorney recruitment and talent development efforts, working closely with firm leadership to identify, attract, and support legal talent at all stages of their careers. Her role provides her with firsthand insight into what law firms seek in candidates and how students can differentiate themselves early in the recruiting process.

Melissa’s participation reflects the firm’s ongoing commitment to legal education and professional development, as well as the firm’s support of programs that help prepare law students for successful careers in private practice. Learn more about our Summer Associate Program here.
