Ward and Smith is pleased to announce that attorney Mike McIntyre will lead the Economic Development Practice Group.
He serves as the firm's Senior Advisor for Government Relations and Economic Development.
"I'm grateful for the firm's confidence in our efforts to spearhead this opportunity to help our clients in exciting and innovative ways," remarked Mike.
Drawing on his deep experience as a former Congressman, Mike brings a wealth of practical knowledge to advise local and national clients seeking new and expanding opportunities. He is passionate about helping businesses, communities, counties, economic developers, and non-profits maximize economic development resources and incentives.
"Mike's extensive experience deepens our focus and commitment to building a stronger North Carolina," stated Brad Evans, Ward and Smith's Co-Managing Director. "With him at the helm of the Economic Development Practice Group, clients can rest assured that they're getting a top-notch team working for their best interests from the initial idea to the doors opening."
Ward and Smith's Economic Development Practice Group works on the federal, state, and local levels to strategize on ways to recruit, retain and grow business investment, job opportunities, and vibrant communities.
With communities now having funding available following the coronavirus pandemic through the American Rescue Plan, and with expanding opportunities on the horizon through additional monies being made available by the return of Congressionally-directed spending for community projects, through agencies such as the EDA and through other new federal and state financial opportunities, as well as through potential federal infrastructure legislation, new economic opportunities abound for consideration. The firm's multidisciplinary team harnesses the firm's strengths in business, tax, securities, real estate, financial institutions, labor and employment, and environmental law to provide clients with comprehensive coverage.
For nearly 40 years, as an attorney, a public servant, and a business advisor, Mike has helped North Carolinians and businesses with government relations and economic development matters. He has been previously selected for the National Leadership Award for economic development by the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) and the first-ever international Public Policy Award for jobs and workforce development by the International Association of Personnel in Employment Security.
