The honor recognizes outstanding professionals under the age of 40 for their contributions to their organization and to the community. This year’s class was selected from a pool of about 150 nominations.
Devon co-leads Ward and Smith and is a North Carolina State Bar Board Certified Specialist in Employment Law. She previously led the Labor and Employment practice group and served as Geographic Chair for the Raleigh office. Today, she brings her knowledge and direct experience to guide clients through high-stakes employment matters while providing strategic leadership for the firm.
Beyond her legal work, Devon demonstrates her commitment to the community through her volunteer work with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Triangle’s Red Shoe Crew.

Devon and her fellow honorees will be recognized at the Triangle Business Journal’s 2026 40 Under 40 Awards event on Wednesday, June 24, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater.
