Ward and Smith Welcomes Four New Summer Associates

Four modern empty white chairs along a grey wall

Ward and Smith is expanding, at least for the summer.

We've hired four law students as part of our 2018 Summer Associate Program.

Meet the summer associates:

Justin Hill                                  Xavier Lightfoot

   Justin T. Hill (1L)                                          Xavier D. Lightfoot (2L)

 Jenna Steiner                                  Thomas Zamadic

Jeanna M. Steiner (2L)                                  Thomas J. Zamadics (2L)

"While law school teaches students the theoretical side of law, our Summer Associate Program is designed to expose future attorneys to the actual practice of law in a real-world setting," said Julie Beavers, Director of Attorney Recruiting and Professional Development.

Our summer associates are given real client work in a variety of practice areas.  This enables summer associates to gain valuable experience from writing legal briefs in support of litigation to assisting in a deal closing on the transactional side of the house. In addition, our summer associates attend court hearings, trials, depositions, mediations, and deal closings while engaging clients.  We strive to impart best practices in professionalism and teamwork, and look to inspire our summer associates through our commitment to each other and to our clients.

"We're deeply committed to developing our summer associates into knowledgeable and well-rounded lawyers," said Beavers. "We accomplish this through mentoring, advising, and professional training. Our ultimate goal is to make sure our summer associates get the most out of their experience in hopes they can make informed decisions about their career paths."

The six-week program runs through June. If you would like to apply for next year's Summer Associate Program, click here.
