Red, blank name tag sticker beside a red pen

Four new faces recently joined Ward and Smith as part of our 2018 Summer Associate Program.

While they are getting better acquainted with what it is like working in a legal environment, we are getting to know them better in our new series called Meet the Summer Associate.

Here’s Jenna Steiner in her own words:

Jenna Steiner

Jenna Steiner
New York native
Birthday:  January 29
Wake Forest University School of Law (2L)

What sparked your interest in law?

I have had an inexplicable attraction to law since a young age, but I was repeatedly warned that if I was thinking about going to law school, I better be darn sure it is what I wanted. So, I took seven years off after my undergrad to pursue graduate studies, travel, and teach, and at the end of the seven years, I was more certain than ever that I wanted to go into law.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Honestly, I just want to be happy and healthy in five years, whatever that may look like.

What do you like to do in your downtime when you're not studying?

I travel any chance I get, but I also like to be outdoors and hike in my free time.

Describe yourself in three words.

I’d say I am motivated, grateful, and empathetic.

How do you say pecan? Pee-can or Pah-Cahn?

I say “pee-can,” although they aren’t something I ever ate growing up.

What is your favorite movie?

"Casablanca"

What is your favorite book?

"Born a Crime"

If you knew you could try anything and not fail, what dream would you pursue?

Travel correspondent

What is something people would be surprised to know about you?

Authentic ramen is my favorite food.

Ward and Smith’s six-week Summer Associate Program runs through June.
