Ward and Smith has released the agenda for its 2021 Employment Law Symposium on May 7. 

The half-day virtual event features a trio of sessions that will cover buzzworthy employment law topics, such as the consequences of the first 100 days of the Biden Administration and our prediction on what's to come for the remainder of 2021 and beyond. The interactive Symposium will kick off with a conversation with the Deputy District Director of the Charlotte District Office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. We are proud to welcome to our 2021 Symposium, Tom Colclough, Deputy District Director of the Charlotte District Office of the U.S. Employment Opportunity Commission.

Tom will team up with Labor and Employment attorney and Firm Co-Managing Director, Devon Williams, to provide a deeper dive into the EEOC.  This insightful session will highlight cases that the EEOC sees (and has seen) and the duo's honest, candid Q&A on these issues will provide you with an insider's look into how the EEOC operates.

Employment Law Honeypot: Rapid Fire Legal Update

Speakers: Xavier Lightfoot, Grant Osborne, Will Oden, and Hayley Wells
10:05 a.m. - 11:05 a.m.

By the time we host our Symposium, we will have passed the first 100 days of the Biden Administration.   This session will look into the Administration's consequences for employers and our prediction on what's to come for the remainder of 2021 and beyond.  Topics to be discussed include an update on current COVID employer issues, how employers can address diversity, equity, and inclusion, and new items that are currently in the Administration's pipeline.

Speakers: Ken Gray, Justin Hill, and Emily Massey
11:10 a.m. - 12:10 p.m.

This LARP (Live Action Role Playing) session will incorporate virtual interactivity and will allow attendees to act out real-life HR scenarios remotely.  Attendees will be able to assume the role and viewpoint of an HR professional, employee, or others as you walk through case examples related to employment issues our employment law attorneys are handling daily. 

Each case example will then be discussed in an open forum to provide insight into how to navigate the current, complex employment environment.
