Biography

Mr. Poole is leader of the International Practice Group.  His practice experience encompasses administrative law, government affairs, general business and corporate law, and real estate law.  Mr. Poole recently completed his assignment as the Secretary of Defense's Representative to the Organization on Security and Cooperation in Europe, a senior executive position by appointment from President Clinton.  He has over 25 years of experience as a senior partner in major law firms.  Mr. Poole served as Senior Policy Advisor and Chief of Staff to United States Senator Terry Sanford.  During his business career he served as CEO of a privately-held company and president and CEO of a major franchising company.  Mr. Poole has served as a member of the Governor's Commission on Competitive North Carolina and the North Carolina International Commission, as a member and chairman of the University of North Carolina Board of Governors, as a board member of the Research Triangle Institute, and as chairman of Unisphere, a nonprofit agency formed to promote high-tech joint ventures.
